The short textbook of medical microbiology for nurses is an attempt to fulfill the actual needs and requirement of nursing students. Material is presented in simple, hand-drawn illustrations and clear meaningful photographs adjusted appropriately between the text. The text is divided into eight sections: general microbiology, bacterial genetics, immunology, systemic bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology and medical entomology, and clinical microbiology. More emphasis is given to collection and transportation of clinical specimen to laboratory, laboratory diagnosis of important infectious diseases, hospital infection, disposal of laboratory and hospital waste, prevention and control of infection, hand hygiene, nurses and microbiology, practical suggestion in dealing hospital infections problems, etc.
